About the Lending Library

The Cool Campaign provides you with access to various tools from its Lending Library to help you learn more about the energy used in your home.

How Does it Work?

There is a Lending Library in each school office, near the PTA files. It is an honor-system based, with a sign-in/sign-out sheet, and we hope you’ll make good use of it. If you have any questions about the Lending Library, please contact Cool Team member Theresa Winterling.

Lending Library tools are really fun for kids!

Borrow these tools to engage your kids in learning about the energy used in your home:

Digital indoor/outdoor thermometers help gauge how efficiently your water heater, refrigerator and freezer are working and can help guide your temperature readjustments. Comes with an instruction handout.

Kill-A-Watt meters provide you with immediate feedback about how much electricity, in watts, your various appliances use, even when they're "off!" This is a great way to show the difference between CFLs and incandescent light bulbs or to see how much electricity a "sleeping" computer really uses. We provide a worksheet to record your findings and help you identify where the energy hogs are in your house.
